Ronald - indeed, it was AM's patent lack of understanding of irony as demonstrated by the lyrics of the song, that I was referring to. Incidentally, writing a song about irony which is clearly not giving appropriate examples is of course in itself ironic.
The OP's position is correct, and it's also a fucking ballache. Appreciate you clearing that up, I hadn't been clear enough.

I hate that song. Mostly because I had to play it in a cover band for years, and I could never remember how the bastard started.
Then I couldn't remember the middle 8.
The ending sucked too.
Much preferred banging out Whole Lotta Rosie.
